Aerial Lift Rental Fleet

Many industries have jobsites that aren’t on the ground. When employees need to work high above, aerial lifts are critical pieces of heavy equipment that allow their jobs to happen safely and efficiently without added risks that come with using basic ladders or scaffolding.

There are various types of aerial lifts, including boom lifts and scissor lifts. Let’s explore the various types of aerial lifts, also known as aerial work platforms, and what they are designed to do.

Types of Aerial Lifts

There are several aerial lift types used on construction sites. Each have their own unique uses and benefits to help get the job done. These include:

Boom Lifts

Boom lifts are motorized lifts on a base of four wheels. An arm swings out to the boom on a crane and uses a bucket or small platform to lift people and equipment more than 100 feet into the air. A glazier boom lift kit has additionally protection for delicate window glazing materials.

Scissor Lifts

Scissor lifts move people and equipment straight up using a series of accordion-like bars. It can hold multiple people on its platform, but its vertical reach is limited.

Material Lifts

Material lifts resemble vertical forklifts and are a lightweight way to move and raise materials weighing up to 650 pounds up to 24 feet in the air. Material lifts do not move people, only supplies and equipment.

Personnel Lifts

Personnel lifts are motorized ladders that are more stable than a freestanding ladder and can reach up to 50 feet in the air.

Articulated vs. Telescopic Boom Lifts

An articulated boom lift can move its arm in different directions, making it nimble when the operator needs to move the boom around obstacles.

A telescopic boom lift can only extend vertically and typically have a broader base that ensures greater stability to accommodate a higher vertical reach.
